We got a non LS 572ci big block to put into a 66 (fudging here to keep Bolt friendly) long bed 1/2 ton Chevy. It has a March serpentine belt set up where everything is in front of the heads/block which means the water pump and crank pulley are spaced forward. Very compact with a short belt. Probably in 700hp range which could have been done cheaper and easier with an LS but DARN THEY ARE PURTY. FiTech self tuning tbi and small cap HEI.

Sure does make my carbureted crate motor 350 transplants look silly.

Back in the day the flat head *ord was the go to setup until the people saw the sbc and its awesome potential then it was the obvious choice......now here we are with the LS doing the same thing but even better. Technology helps out in the HP and durability department.

How are you planning to keep rear tires on your truck? You'll leave stoplights at 300+ HP at idle!
