Bought my friend`s Panel the one he had in his backyard for 12 years. He`s already fix up a 52 1/2 ton and a 56 sedan both Chevys. He was ready to sell it and the price was more then reasonable. I always admire the panel trucks. From the receipts the panel lived its life in California a brass tag on the radiator says Pasadena 19701. The panel is very solid, doors, hood, fenders line up. Some rust on right corner floorboard and a roof holes and a roof vent. The 235 is complete with the correct carb and linkage other then it doesn't have the stock rims this will be a much easier restore then the Good Humor Truck. Plan on making the panel truck into a bakery truck, just like the Helms Bakery trucks that road down the streets of California. I`ve had good luck with the Good Humor Truck.I believe theres a market for a vintage bakery truck with back doors open up.With the cabinet drawers that roll out about three feet. With pastrys of different selections.Maybe a Coffee pot setup and a juice bar. Hook up with a Local Bakery to offset the cost.Still early development stages.I can see this happening a Good humor truck and a vintage Bakery truck at events . I`m having fun now just restoring the panel. photo
Steve, Very nice panel! looks like it is in great shape. I like the picture of the lady reaching into her coin purse to buy some goodies. She would have her wallet out today. Good luck with your restoration. Les
Thank you for your support. I have already started tearing down the panel and inspecting the areas that need attention. The rear cargo door and latches are a must for working properly all the time since they will be in use constantly. I found a NOS rear Latch and I`m having the machine shop make two additional slotted rods for the rear cargo door locking latches. And I`m already doing the rear cargo door handle rebuild. In addition I am locating replacement rims for the panel using 15 inch 6 lug that take the stock hubcaps. All in all its moving along steady. ________________________________________________ Steve
Update Panel is up and running Finish the painting in the garage. I`m in the finish process of installing the rear Helms Bakery cabinet setup in the back there was no blueprints in building these iconic setup with the famous Wooden 5 ft long drawers. I have a Master Craftsman design them using 5 of the original drawers and using old photos showing the setup. Also installing a inverter with 3 Deep Cycle batteries to run my coffee brewer and a small refrigerator. Also schedule a sign painter to discuss lettering on the Panel. Almost done, will start showing at local shows this summer . I will check with local Bakery if they would like to use my Panel in promoting their baked goods out of it.
Love the color scheme and the deluxe trim you added. Fantastic job! Well done!
What are the drawers for?

Helms Bakery in Culver City, California . Deliver to your door, using a Chevy panel truck with a rear cabinet built with 5 foot drawers that pulled out with fresh baked goods. Breads ,Pies ,Donuts, cookies, cakes. Same charm has the Good humor Truck.
Update Finish Wooden Cabinet And Drawers. A lot of stripping, staining and Varnishing. Rear Drawers work really well using the same setup 45 years ago. I`m now working on the inverter and the deep cycle batteries for hooking up the 110 volt coffee brewer and fridgerator-freezer. Work with different organizations help promote their Baked goods offering free samples and help promoting different Charity events.

That is a beautiful looking truck and it looks like a lot of quality work involved. Did California make you put a Prop 65 on your project truck now? lol
