ok, i've got my 50 jimmy on ebay so i can procede with the 62 chevy i've got and i'm looking for ideas for a front suspension for it.
1st off, a MII is out of the question (not HD enough)+ they're not wide enough.i tend to use a truck as a truck;)

i don't think a 63-87 PU swap will get it as low as i'd like.i don't want to use dropped spindles either...

yeah, i COULD do a camaro swap but that's been done to death BUT i do have a couple laying around..

got any FRESH ideas?

Stock torsion bars cranked way down, in addition to 2-inch dropped spindles. And then section the cross member for the additional ground clearance.

It'll ride pretty comfortable.
I know the big pain with the T-bar front is the horrible expense of rebuilding the ball joints, etc. There's a dude on Ebay selling new lower ball joints for $89 a pair, which is a huge savings compared to the $150 EACH I've found everywhere else.

Once you get done figuring in the cost of all the fab work and rebuilding the replacement parts anyway, I don't think it's that much of a savings over rebuilding stock front. Add a disc brake kit and power steering with a quicker ratio box, and I don't see a reason not to run the original front end.

Somewhere I've seen pictures of one done using C4 Corvette stuff. Go with C5 stuff and that would be new to at least me. Better yet C6 Z06 stuff with that new 427...

Jag is different but doesn't really gain much so I'd have trouble thinking it worth the work.

I plan on using a 'vette front end when I get around to it. Next winter maybe. I can find them for around $800.00 in really good shape here in the south-east. If I went MII from "Fat Mans' over in North Carolina it would set me back 2 grand plus. Besides, like you I've seen enough MII's and Camero's. A buddy who is going to help me install the unit has one sitting under a '48 International panel truck with a 350 chevy motor so they gotta be heavy enough.

I was going to install a 1987 C10 IFS on my 51 but the tracking was to wide and without taking about 1 7/8" out of the center of the saddle I was going to have to put 1" spacers between it and the frame. But I was told from several people that it fit good on a 58 thru 66 ?? and with drilling a couple extra holes on the frame it was almost a bolt on ?? its heavy duty enough for just about any engine setup you go with, look into it and see Im not sure but thats what I was told
good luck

yeah, they'll fit but like i said, it'd just be a stock height truck then....
dropped spindles are out of the question, if i'm gonna go to THAT much trouble, it better be low...
thing is guys, i'm looking for the unusual, that's why the subframe/MII comment.

OK....
Use a honda goldwing front forks and that will bring it down to the ground and sparking
and talk about unusual...
if you "tend to use it as a truck" then keep it as a truck, a vette or jag the last time i checked is a CAR

I am going with the c4 suspension and got the crossmember from Flat Out Engineering. There are no complaints from me on the design or the strength, being made of 2x4. In the front it should work just as good as your truck seeing as corvettes had the weight of the v8's and 11 in rotors for 84-87 and 12 in on 88-96. Plus you will get rack and pinion steering.
