That grill can be restored. I did the one on my ‘37 myself. It was in a bit worse condition. It took several days of patience and using a variety of pliers, sheet metal pliers, wood blocks as dollys, ultra fine steel wool, bar keepers friend powder, liquid mild abrasive polish and experimentation. The one thing I regret not doing is painting the back side with something like black rustoleum paint. I have that on the maintenance list for the coming months.
Your effort will be somewhat easier, since the dog house and grill are off the truck. I had a rodeo with removing and re-installing this one, mostly because access to the top bolts were just beyond my arm length.
