I have a 1941 Holden build Chev truck in a partially disassembled state. It is an old farm truck. On top of the chassis rails close to the steering box, and a similar point on the the other chassis rail there is also a bolt that secures a very long eye bolt type thing. The eyes are held by the bolts but a shafts runs forward almost to the radiator where there are threaded connectors.
Obviously something must have screwed into these connectors. The shafts are sitting almost flat against the chassis rails but if they were left undone and the truck was driven the would eventually straighten and settle flat.
My guess is that the connected somewhere to the radiator support but I am not sure where. The sit just inside the wheel arch splash panels.
Thanks
Steve

Lift it up about 45 degrees and put a bolt through that bracket on the side of the radiator, however it looks too short as shown unless the radiator needs to be tilted back slightly?

Is that a coupling nut or a turnbuckle on the end of the rod? (Turnbuckles have right and left hand threads) It looks like the front piece that would have bolted to the hole at the top of the radiator is missing. Jerry

If you're not interested in being 100% period-correct, turnbuckles are common hardware store items, and the existing rod could be rethreaded to accommodate the right hand thread part of the new assembly. Jerry
