Here's the stupidest question ever posted. Is there an easy way to remove the stickers that are plastered all on all of the body panels that I buy. I soaked one in acetone yesterday and it didn't help much. I imagine that lacquer thinner would probably remove the black coating on them? Just a pain in the neck.

What Martin said, and then with what little adhesive may be left I've used WD40 to remove it..............

I had to buy a heat gun to avoid repercussions from taking the wife's hair dryer out to the garage. wink
But on the plus side, it's another tool! grin

Thanks guys, I never had thought about using heat. I already have a heat gun, so I'll get to work tomorrow getting these stickers off.

never, Never, NEVER use WD40 or Amorall or ANY silicone spray on anything that will be painted; it's uncontrolled fish eyes if you do. Heat guns don't cause fish eyes.

Coilover is correct . Never, ever use any product containing Silicone on any surface you intend to paint. I should have been more specific and stated standard WD40. Standard WD40 does not contain silicone. They do offer a product "WD40 Specialist Spray" that does contain SIlicone and clearly says so. I have used standard WD40 to remove residual adhesives that are often left on the surface after using heat to remove stickers or labels, without issues. I follow up by cleaning the surface using Alcohol 70/30 water mixture.

"Norm Larsen, founder of Rocket Chemical Company, is considered the original founder of WD-40," according to wd40.com. ... WD-40 does not contain fish oil, contrary to a popular myth, nor does it contain silicone, kerosene, water, wax, graphite, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs)."

Thank you, Dusty53

Original WD-040 (still available) does not contain silicone.

There is a WD-40 Silicone spray - guess what it contains?

If you ever plan to paint your vehicle, read slowly and carefully the warning in Evan's (coilover's) post above.

Naphtha (lighter fluid) is also a good solvent for sticker removal. It should be fish eye friendly.

Yep,
I use wax and grease remover, a solvent specifically sold for painting use.

I did the same thing but had to use my wife's curling iron...what a sticky mess. I quickly put it back in the drawer. When she found it I told her that she apparently laid it on the cotton ball bag while it was still hot...she actually bought that!
