I don’t know about the coe but on my pickup they look like they are the support rods from the firewall to the inner fender

Those are braces, arranged in a "V" between the grill and radiator. They attach at the top to the radiator support and at the bottom middle just behind the grill. I seem to remember one is slightly longer than the other so try different arrangements for best fit. I tried to find this in the Factory Assembly Manual but that shows 1954 only and the grill and radiator support designs had changed.

Here is a photo that shows those braces where they attach at the center bottom just behind the grill. Sorry, that is the best photo I have of them.
