Cap to me meant bearing caps. In that case, just find a generic torque spec for the bolt size (5/16" NC?), or use the old tried and true "Torque 'em down till they break and back off 1/2 turn."  As far as pattern, probably not critical, but a "star" would be appropriate after snugging all the bolts finger tight. I usually don't bother with the torque wrench on stuff like cover bolts, just grab the socket wrench close to the business end and twist them snug with one hand.
