Hi,
Warren here. Thanks for the add. I'm a 60's Impala guy and a 30+ year VCCA member. I'm heavy into the research of these cars. (impalas.org is my website)

Anyway, I found the forum when I was looking up some brake shoe springs. My father and I recently bought this large lot of old NOS Chevy parts (most pre 1976) from a dealer that closed 10 years ago and some of the parts had fallen out of the boxes. I was searching a number on one of the boxes to find a picture of what goes in it and found a thread on here where a couple of members were having trouble finding the same springs! There are actually several sets of different medium truck brake shoe springs from these years that I've seen so far. Are none of these reproduced for the 40's and 50's trucks? I've found some of 3694516 (green color) and 3694799 (black color). Is there a demand for them? A friend of mine had the 68 Caprice hidden headlight springs reproduced by a company in small runs of 15 sets (6 springs each). I could have him look into it. I felt bad for the guy who said his truck was laid up for 9? months because he couldn't find the correct springs! I've attached a pic of the set of 4 3694799 springs I came across today.

It was a small Maine dealership so I've come across quite a bit of stuff that's medium truck such as transmission, brake, suspension, rear axle and 235 engine parts. I dig all the posts about the members here working on these trucks. If there is interest in parts like these for these trucks, I can post stuff I find here in a thread in the parts for sale forum. I'm guessing a lot of this stuff is not reproduced but not sure how in depth the work work goes when you restore them or even fix them up. I know I'm new here so I want to make sure I'm going about it correctly.

Thanks for your input! Warren

Welcome to the 'bolt Warren, It is great that you found a treasure trove of apparently hard to find parts. Please do post what you have in the part for sale forum.

Another quality post.

Thanks for stopping in, Warren, and for your willingness to help our guys out with the parts you found. If its an NOS truck part, I'm sure we have somebody around our site looking for it -- and we'll be glad to help you figure it out.

Be patient with us, though ... We've not dealt with situations like this too much. I don't think I've ever dealt with anyone who's happened onto a stash of NOS stuff and was genuinely interested in getting it to the people who needed it. We're more attuned to people of questionable moral intent looking to make a fast buck and playing loose with our rules. We can chat offline (once you make a few more posts and that ability automatically turns on) or you can email me directly at editor@stovebolt dot com if you like.

We have folks here with the knowledge and research resources who can help you identify that stuff ... I'm just wanting to be careful that we don't make it look like its okay, now, to post WTS ads everywhere in the site. But bottom line -- wanting to identify your stash to make it available to those who need/want it is a good thing and we want to help.

Thanks,
John
(FWIW, I'm also from Maine -- Kennebec County)

Sounds good. Yeah if I make a few bucks fine but I wouldn't ask an am and a leg. haha. I'd rather see the parts on a truck than sitting around. When I get through everything, I'll be in touch. Will probably send you an email when I reach that point

Welcome to the Stovebolt, Warren. Looking forward to seeing you around here and for you willing to "part" with the parts. I'm with you, why hoard it when we can brighten someones day.

It looks as though Maine is being well represented these days. I’m based in the Freeport area.
