Did GM drill all needed holes in Firewall to mount the heater? Both mine have a bracket with male threads that go thru the firewall--I want to install in the 51 5 Window..Thanks Bill
I think so. All the ones i have seen have setups for at least the round core and usually also the fresh air style with the valve. For the round core look for the 2 holes in line vertically for the pipes to pass through and it should be a triangle hole configuration within them with the top of the triangle pattern pointing towards driver side.
I believe they did. The recirc heater with the round coil used the two hose holes spaced vertically quite a distance apart, and attached with 3 studs extending thru the firewall. See the attached pics. The fresh air heater may have used the holes toward the outboard side of the firewall with the fan motor sticking thru the firewall where the cover plate is in the pics. I'm not sure if there were also attaching studs going thru the firewall, but suspect there were. My firewall is peppered with holes in that area. (Not sure at the moment what they're all for.) There's also a pair of holes closely spaced vertically toward the center of the firewall, which may have been used for a different style heater (there were more than 2 types used.) Someone else will have to weigh in with a picture of the other heater styles.

Justhorsenround, I thought I posted a question regarding the AE Supreme heater, hammered bronze color with three chrome directional doors. Was this an after market heater? The firewall does not look like a pro installed it. 54 -3100. Ed

Sir, we separated your post and it is listed below this post in the interior forum. We didn’t want the information for the two heaters mixed up. If you have any questions please send me a message.
