in 1975 i bought a sun scope still have and looks new. the number induction lead is hooped . dont know where to start looking . does anyone have any idea
Sun used to have an equipment maintenance phone hotline with an 800 prefix, but when Snap-On bought the company in the late 1980's I'm pretty sure they stopped, or at least severely cut back on servicing the older equipment. Those machines and test lead sets come up on Ebay pretty often. Try a search there. I was once a regional training director for Sun, just before the big switch to Snap-On took place. My job got cut pretty quickly when that happened! Jerry

hello jerry i thankyou for your time and knowledge.ill start looking at ebay.i bought it new . when i sold shop i decided to keep it for my old cars, now its a old freind but part of the decor in shop as well. i dont know about you, but i miss the years from 65 to about 75 in the trade.we use to have reps drop in regulary they also became freinds. hope you and your family are doing ok during these difficult time. thanks again stay well

There are two inductive pickup leads on most Sun testers- - - - -a chrome-plated one that clamps over the coil wire and a red one that senses a signal from the #1 spark plug wire. Which one do you need? The coil wire lead can also accept an inductive probe that clips over the coil in the distributor cap on a GM HEI distributor. The same basic inductive probe as the #1 plug sensor is used on Sun timing lights. Jerry

Is the wire itself, or the clip-on sensor the part that's bad? The wire is nothing but a piece of shielded coax cable like a radio antenna uses. Anybody with a little bit of soldering expertise can make one. All you'd need to do would be to swap the ends that attach to the machine and the probe. I have a Sun scope than is probably never going to be put back into service if it's the sensor that's bad. Jerry
