Can a '52 box/mast be used in a '54?

The 1954 steering mast has holes in it for the RPO/Accessory turn-signal wire-harness. And, there is a different "cover/cone" around the steering column, under the steering wheel.
"Can a '52 box/mast be used in a '54?" I do not know, but, I would bet "yes"; but (again), wait to hear from others. | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,320 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,320 | 1954 was the first year for built in turn signals, so the column has a cutout for the wires to run down the inside of the column.

Except for those differences in the 1954 steering column, could someone use an earlier 1/2-ton column in a 1954/55st truck?
Would it bolt-right-in/on - you would use the earlier steering wheel/collar? | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,320 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,320 | I can not think of a reason the earlier box would not fit. Same splines for pitman and steering wheel, and same mounting. The parts book shows the 1947-53 steering shaft to be 5/16" longer on the 1954.
