Mack, If you can tell me the casting # I can tell you the spec's for the heads are.
Will they fit a 283 ? YES . The casting # for the block would help.

Hey Mack,
Where are you? I have a set of stock 1966-1967 283 heads with a valve job, hardened seats and new seals just sitting here.

Pablos,

How much for the 283 heads? I am rebuilding a 67 283 for my truck and could use them.

Pablos, are those heads from a 2bbl or a 4 bbl ? I have a set of heads with the big valves (2.02 1.60) with 500 miles on a rebuild. I prefer the smaller valves. (1.9 1.5)

The engine they were on originally on was a 2 barrel set-up. I'll drag them out and check the casting #s and maybe I can find out something.

I've rolled 'em up in cardboard before and mailed 'em USPS.

Yes. To get back to your question, 305 heads will work on a 283, and the combustion chamber size is very close too.

I had a set of old Corvette dual-quad 283 heads that I recently gave away. I wish I new earlier, I'd have let you have them.

The 305 heads have bosses drilled and tapped for accessories that the 283 heads lack. Other than that, very similar.

BTW, I wouldn't suggest 70cc heads on a 283 unless you need really low compression for forced induction. 305 heads were 58 cc's and 283 heads were slight less than that, if I remember.
