Hi everyone
Looking for some color help, I’m having trouble finding forester green for my 1949 Chevy 3100 I’m having painted and I’ve gotten a sample of Forester green from PPG40519 and it looks light. Like almost a jelly green, which I don’t want.

Btw I looked & searched all over this site looking for different color codes with no luck.

The color codes in the Stovebolt 1947-1955 Advance-Design Paint Codes Tech Tip are from GM/Chevrolet-truck documents.

A paint supplier may or may not be able to find a formula for a code - they then look for "offset" codes (a code for a modern color that supposedly matches the original color).

Your second link mentions the color as Seacrest green, not Forester green.

I am getting slower and dimmer as I enter old age.
I only see one link in my post above. (Maybe you are referring to links at that Tech Tip?)

The 1949 Salesman Truck Data Book shows Seacrest Green (but, not Forester Green)

My guess is that Secrest Green was the 1949 Truck color name?

There might be more 1949 Chevrolet Color sheets here?

To my knowledge, many of the years have the exact same colors, but are named differently each year. I personally call it Forestor Green or "simply" Utility Green.
Here is the color I have for my 1952.
Juniper Green
It is a PPG Acrylic Enamel I bought years ago.

This is one quart.

On my current 1960 project, I had some spray tests with new paints. The same color that I had tested came out completely different from each other and required a different number of coats to cover. For this testing, I went to my local auto paint jobber and looked in his old color chip books that he had. I also ordered an original chip card for my year truck from Ebay so I had one for myself and always started with that chip card to be consistent with different brands.

Roxxstar, I have attached a pic of my nearly finished 51 3100. This is what I had mixed as Forester Green. It looks like the color you are looking for. I had some test chips made. I can send you a piece of one of those chips if you want along with the formula. Let me know.

To my eye the ppg 40519 looks like the 2nd link.

The discussion of whether or not the '49 3100 came in forester green got me doing a lot of Googling.

These links show forester being a stock color. So I'm pretty sure that's correct

@Builder do you have a link to the Juniper green color those codes make?

I know pretty much nothing on paint; the place painting my truck says if I get them the code they'll get the paint. So I provided them with the PPG code and when they provided me a sample, I told them to stop because I thought it was too kelly green.

Has anyone used this paint from Jim Carter?

Attached are pictures of the truck I matched it to and the paint that I had made up many years ago. This is just acrylic enamel, but you can clear over it if you get the right guy and do it. Of course new paints are better.

many times the color "name" is the same color use for other brands of cars too.

I know this post is old but I may have some useful info for others. The truck in that article “retired nurses....” is not seacrest green or forest green. The color is actually an Austin color, 1958 GN13. I liked the color so I inquired with the owner.
