The only ones I remember are those like 42465967's above, but yet more round. They had an open flame, of course. I always wanted one, but it seems like none ever made it to any flea markets or auctions that I went to.

On county road 121 just off state highway 160 near Whiteright, Texas a land owner has the more spherical ones chrome plated and mounted on the top of fence posts. I've wondered if they have ever all been lit at one time for a luau type party.

My wife's Uncle is a car guy and every year for Christmas tries to find something unusual and antique vehicle related to give me as a gift. He handed me my present one year and after a short story about dumpster diving at a neighbor house came up with it. It was round and in fancy Christmas paper and he so proudly said, "see if you can guess what this is". Without missing a beat I said, "its an old road flare!" He, my in-laws and wife were blown away.
I would love to have a few more. One year I put citronella oil in it and used it on the picnic table! It worked great!

These came with the 41 dump truck (cab) for Mowrystown Brick and Tile and were in a small steel box. The box turned to rust dust as they were carried about in the location as pictured. They were originally red. I also have the brass pump Dayton Fyr fighter extingusher.

A good friend of mine sold me a set of three that I have mounted on the back of my Tow Truck. I set them out at every car show I go to, with the 3/16 wood dowel rods that go in the caps with red flags (that I had my Mom make) to keep people from walking into the towing cradle.

I do not have a collection, but do have this set mounted on my '48 Chevy 1/2 ton truck. It used to be a Road Department service truck in Mineral County, Nevada.

I have a set just like the green ones in the first post picture, in the same holder, mounted on the passenger side of my truck's cab just in front of the door under the dash. I opened them up one time just to see, and yup the wicks are still in them and have never been burned. probably never were filled with kerosene either. They are kinda neat how they nest together.
