I have a 52 Chevy truck with a 58-62 235 with a 3 speed (installed by the PO). This means that prior to the T-5 install I have a stock 11" flywheel, 9" 10 spline clutch, and a 10.4" pressure plate. I pulled all this and am now ready to put it back together with the T-5. I will be using the original 11" flywheel (surfaced at the machine shop), a new 9 11/16" 14 spline clutch disc (RCF-4201), and a new 10.4" pressure plate (CA1675). This should work but the pressure plate was listed as a car part not a truck part in the Napa parts books. Anyone know what the deal is? Was this put in cars and trucks or is the tranny and possibly the motor out of a car?

When I did this conversion on my '50 with a 261 I used the stock flywheel and simply bought an 11 inch pressure plate/disc set up with 26 splines. The 11 inch pp is a tight fit with the stock bell housing but it will work. If your flywheel is drilled for a 10.4 pp that should be plenty strong enough and a less tight fit. I went with the 11 inch since my engine was warmed over and we use it for some drag racing. I'm not familiar with the 14 spline set up. The only other mod I had to make was to enlarge the 4 mounting holes in the trans case every so slightly to a full 1/2 inch hole. With that they lined right up with the bell housing bolted right up.

On my sm420 to T5 conversion behind a 56-235, I used the RCF-4201 disc and the stock pressure plate that was with the sm420. Make a visual check of your new pressure plate against your old and I think you'll find it identical, other than the diameter.

Just a suggestion, after modifying your input and throwout bearing carrier shaft I'd be sure to use an air cutoff tool and just slightly extend the splines. I didn't the first install and had drag on the clutch. You only need the have the pressure plate slide back another 1/8" to make it totally free from drag.

I put some pics in my website. You might want to check them out and save yourself so hassle.
