Before summer, I want to take care of a couple things. First, there's only one lock on the doors and I don't have the right key. I saw a set of 2 door locks, ignition & glovebox with matching keys. Is that the best option for me? I think I can follow the tutorials here. Second, there's a couple things on the transmission: the speedo is WAY off, so I'm thinking a new speedo gear might be a way to go but I have no idea how to figure what I need! Any advice would be wonderful. Thanks! They have a chart where you plug in the transmission, rear gear, and tire size which then gives the speedometer drive and driven gear combo needed.

You can do what you mentioned above, or you can take your current drivers lock out only since this should be the one with the key hole. Take it to a locksmith and they should be able to cut you a new key with no problem and ask for a spare key. You can actually lock the passenger door without a key, (only from the inside). Just reach across and pull the door handle up and it locks the door. Then when you get the key to fit your driver's door, close and lock it with the key, then your truck is locked up.

Good luck. It's funny...the only key hole is on the passenger side on my truck! And I figured if I get in there, I might as well do both sides. I knew about locking from the inside but thought it would be good to have both sides unlock-able from outside. Precision brand weatherstrip worked good for me. Them or trim parts i think are the better brands in my opinion. Precision has non glue on weatherstripping for the doors, they have a metal piece that taps over over the pinch weld. No glue, no mess... Took about 10 min to put both sides on. | | |
