I believe the passenger car rear is 2 inches shorter drum to drum . I have one available to install in my 56 3100 stepside and wondered if it would work without clearance problems wheel width etc. I am going to use rally wheels Thanks for replys

The spring perches might need to be relocated as well because of pinion angle and/or spring width... Let us know what you find! Assuming it's a 55p differential instead of a 55t, the ring gear is a bit smaller, but doesn't sound unreasonable when you look up ring sizes in other trucks. Looks like there's a wonderful variety of ring & pinion ratios currently marketed for the car axle instead of just 3.38 for the 55t. https://www.drivetrainshop.com/GM_55P_55T_s/106.htm
