Hi Guys I have recently obtained a 1946 Chef truck dually, I am trying to find info on the rig by way of the GM ( Holden Tags ) I suspect the vehicle was assembled in Australia therefore has Australian Tags. Any info that could be provided would be great. I am looking at doing a full restoration on the truck with some modern touches. ie V8 independent front suspension. Hy Mick 1975, welcome, it looks like you have the equivalent of a 1 1/2ton Canadian truck there, from your pictures I think the cap in the middle of the front hub is the screw in type with eight sides on it pictures are too far away to be sure. Your truck could be anywhere between a 1939 and a 1947. Post some more closer pictures and a picture of the cab interior/ dashboard, hope that helps.
That wheel bolt pattern(5/10) has been used on many modern GMC trucks, so modern axles are readily available, at least in the 'states. However, modern tubeless wheels(22.5) are hard to find in in that bolt pattern, at least in the 'states. Those wheels became available from the factory with the advent of tubeless tires in the late '50's, frequently on farm trucks.
Tubeless wheels in 19.5 size are commonly found, however, tires that size look 'undernourished' in those front fenders. I can't tell from pictures if your front fenders are the larger 1.5 ton size or the slightly smaller 1 ton size.
Full width front fenders, that would house full width front axles p(I have two sets) are rare, on GMC trucks(I know your is a '41 to '47 Chevy body style, at least in the 'states, which might be useful.
