Very good experience, make sure you order the truck ring and pinion and not he car version.
It's listed as follows: 1940 1941 1947 1948 1949 Chevy GMC truck 3.55:1 Ring and Pinion Gears 1/2 ton GM | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | Yes, the eBay listing is : "1940 1941 1947 1948 1949 Chevy GMC truck 3.55:1 Ring and Pinion Gears 1/2 ton GM"
If that is the listing, the description is more extensive: "New 3.55:1 ring & pinion gears for all 1940-1953 Chevy & GMC 1/2 ton trucks."
And, it could be noted that it will work on 1954 1/2 ton trucks, if you use an earlier ring-gear carrier? | | | | Joined: Jun 2017 Posts: 120 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2017 Posts: 120 | New bearings also make a big difference on how well the assy. goes back together. I was fortunate to find all NOS american made bearings for the pinion, axle and carrier all on Ebay. Dont forget a new Oakie bushing as well. | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 1,955 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 1,955 | I will be getting my extra rear end and torque tube soon from the field it is in to take apart to look into the same swap my tube is a Canadian truck so will be looking for either a carrier or maybe drill the carrier to accommodate the ring gear. How did you order your gears from mother trucker I don’t see a website or are they on eBay under mothertrucker. | | | | Joined: Jun 2017 Posts: 120 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2017 Posts: 120 | Ebay, use the username I specify in my first response email | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 7,442 Bolter | Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 7,442 | You can contact him through PM here on Stovebolt. If you want OEM smooth and quiet these gears are the answer. I too purchased all new pinion and diff bearings nos off ebay. Gear setup was straight forward, also a great time to install an okie bushing while it is all apart.
