I searched through the forum and found a lot of good info but still have a few questions. The front suspension in my 1950 3100 is worn out and all the components will need replacing or repairing. Considering putting in a Mustang II kit (bolt in from Chassis Engineering or RBs) instead but am concerned this would drop the truck too much. Chassis engineering says it would be roughly a 3" drop.
Would appreciate if anyone has photos or clearance measurements (front bumper, etc.) to help me decide which way to go.
Thanks,
Bob

Thanks for that link, somehow missed it in my search. Are you happy with your truck's ride height? Not all the roads I will be driving are paved and I don't want to bottom out on every pot hole.

hey bob , dont know anything about the mustang kit from chassis engineering but can testify to what i've used . their stuff is first class in my opinion. used their pacer front end kit and their bolt in rear end kit and motor and tranny mount kit for my 49 they'll even fax you the instruction sheets to let you preview them first . good company to deal with .my two cents anyway.....dave

I don't really have trouble with bottoming. Fat coons and coyotes are more of an issue. When I drive gravel, I have to slow down anyway or it really chews up the paint. If I had to do a lot of gravel, I'd keep the I-beam and paint the truck with a brush.

The rear has air shocks and there is no pressure in them at the time these pics were taken( Adjustable coil overs after tax refund) The front tires are 235/15's and the rear are 29 X 18.5 X 15's
Hope that help you figure it out a little

That's a great looking ride David. Makes my decision a bit more difficult. Taller truck with a bit rougher ride with stock suspension versus smoother ride and 3" lower than stock (according to Chassis Eng).

I installed a TCI IFS with 2" drop spindles, my front bumper was 7" from the ground, I have just gone to stock spindles and like the stance a lot better, don't know why but the ride seems to have improved. I cut 1 turn off the coil springs originally to get my lower tubular A arms level, I also had to use different shocks to get the proper travel of 8 - 13 1/2". I continue to tweek the build. Zeke
