What about the stainless steel interior window and windshield garnish moldings? I've seen that in person a few times, and is pictured below. (Thanks, HandyAndy.) What years was this available? Was it standard or optional? Again, I seem to remember reading years, and years ago that it was found on early 1949 and older. What say ye? Thanks!

Well, that's a good question. The door window molding are stainless and the PO painted the windshield moldings silver. Recently, someone posted a reply in the Interior forum stating that stainless steel windshield moldings do not exist for safety reasons. They went on to say that glare off the the SS would be a safety issue. It makes sense to me. I plan to do some interior painting next Spring and those windshield moldings are on the list.
Here is some information on the window frames. It is correct that windshield frames never came from GM in chrome or SS for the AD’s, it would be safe to assume it was for glare.
I assume the side door window moulding you're referring to is the interior door moulding not the exterior stainless steel bright metal reveal moulding.
The 47-54 Factory Assembly Manual calls the side door interior moulding, Garnish Moulding and the side door exterior moulding Reveal Moulding.. sec. 1 sheet 21.00
