Hi all. I'm new here and have bought a General Motors of Canada 1ton I believe. Model 9434. The serial number is 9943407863. I think I have decoded it properly. It is the 5 window. I'm a Locomotive Engineer. I haven't cruised the site much yet and am still trying to track down info on the engine. The code is X314110. The block stamp behind the distibutor matches so I think its original. Trim is 394. Body is 686. Paint is 031. Have looked at alot of sites to try and find this info but just can't seem to. I am going to try and get the vehicle info from the Heritage site but just thought I'd see if there's something or someplace I'm missing that I don't know about. A little long winded here but this site is amazing and thanks for having me.

I own a CDN built, 1952 GMC 9434,its been in the family since new so I know most of it's history, but I did contact Vintage Vehicle Services in Oshawa Ontario, to get the manufacturers history (cost about 50 bucks for their service), only thing they couldn't figure out was the paint code (SP 2012), which they interpreted as being a special order paint code for a fleet order of this type of vehicle. I know its a shade of light blue (original paint still visible on the inner firewall)...BTW if anyone has seen this type of paint code on CDN built GMCs let me know...
Gilly, Welcome to the Bolt! I second VVS as I’ve heard good things about them. I never used any of the original paint codes or engine codes on mine, so I’m not much help to you there. There are a few of us Wild Rose Country 1 tonners kicking aground in here. My GMC is a 1951 9434. It sure is fun to drive! I’m looking forward to seeing some pictures!
The 9 at the front of your serial number tags your truck as a ‘49.
