I've been looking for a carter to replace the B Rochester carburetor on the 235 in our 45 2 ton.Seemed all YF's went away , so I saw a 1904 Holley, bid 5 bucks, and got it.These Holleys are the ones found on 50-60's Fomoco 6's and on some IHC 6's.
I disassembled the carb,looked like a fresh gaskets and small parts but some stupid [censored] larvee was living inside ,plugging all the passages.Cleaned it out put it back together,took a rat tail file to the mounting holes to widen the pattern slightly to fit on the Chevy.Welded a metal tab on the linkage to match up withe the trucks throttle rod.
Had to change the main jet from a 62 to a 65,no problem ,the jets are the same as Holley 4bbls.
The truck makes no more power but the response at higher engine speeds is better,the idle is very smooth, and it doesn't leak any fuel.
Also made an adapter to mount the stock oil bath aircleaner.

Yeah, you think you have a sweet running B ,then drop on another carb,the B is a piece of junk

Lots of folks like these carbs for another reason. During the 1950's, these had glass bowls. Kind of interesting to watch the float and the fuel while the engine is running.

Most of the commercial rebuilders replace the glass bowls with the cast ones.
