Re-adjusted front brakes after installing new shoes and went for a break in drive. Stops perfectly straight! Yes!

My '50 Chevy 3100 5 window, '62-235cu, 3:55 rear My truck ....... Respect The Rust If I'm not working on my truck, '65 m00stang or VW camper, I'm fishing with the wife or smoking Salmon.
Apparently, it is "new battery" Friday, my 6.5 year old "1 year warranty" battery has failed me. Hoping to make the cruise in this afternoon and maybe score an illegal milk shake.

Installed a new aftermarket window regulator on the 49 3100, surprisingly it seems to fit and function as it should. Keeping the original for future rebuild.
Maybe not very related, but when a person decides to install electric window risers, sometimes the windows are too short. I bought new glass from a hotrod glass shop and neglected to tell them that I was installing electric windows.... needless to say, I bought another set.

First time in 37 years of ownership the grille and fender has been off the truck. Finally took a notion to tackle floorboard rust, and pretty sure I got to the layer of rust that shows evidence of the meteorite that killed off the dinosaurs. I'm in up to my eyeballs now!!

Ripped out the passenger side rocker and fitted the replacement.
Pic 1 is the floor with the rocker gone - needs a little cleanup and straightening. Pic 2 is the remnants of the rocker - had a few too many rot holes for my taste. Was initially going to splice front and rear on the existing, but decided to replace the complete thing. Pic 3 is the new rocker set in place temporarily. will weld it in another day.

Is your cab on some sort of rotisserie, or are you just turning it over?
It's on a rotisserie. Makes it a lot easier to work on the floor, which is my main task. Here's a link to setting up the rotisserie.

Freshened up the paint on my grill and front bumper. I removed and dissembled the grill. This involved removing some bolts and 18 rivets. The exposed surfaces were in good shape but I had rust stains running down the face of the grill coming from the joints where the various grill piece were joined.
New ALUMINUM cam timing gear installed, along with the new crank gear. Not that I'll EVER have to fool with the front cover again , but I drilled and tapped the main cap for bolts installed through the front--cuz I just gots ta fiddle with it! This time I'm using a very nice centering tool that my FIL turned up... slips over the crank snout and centers the cover for the balancer seal. I didn't do that the first time I tore this thing down and I developed a leak rather quickly... it pays to read the repair manual.
I had the distinct pleasure of installing a new temperature gauge in the '47. It works just like it should!
How do you big fellas work under the dash in these ADs? I'm 5'9" and 175 lbs, I'm just glad there wasn't any more of me to try to fit between that seat riser and the pedals........

Needless to say, I'm glad to have this job done!!
You lay every conceivable tool within easy hand reach without having to do an unnatural bend at the elbow, you light it up with as many lights as possible (that'll stay put), you lead in with your arms already extended cause theres no way to get them in position once your wedged in, you do every possible thing you can before diving in to minimize time on station and you wear safety glasses to deflect that which will fall directly on your face. You are guaranteed a sore back for a day or two afterwards.
I recently had to crawl under my 49 Chevy's dash to upgrade the gas gauge and lights to 12v's, I'm in no hurry to get the stock gauges working in the 49 GMC....
I added a cell phone holder to the dash that I hope won't fall off or jiggle too much. Handy Andy, I am 5'9" and 200 and I have fallen between the seat and the floor shifter and did not know which way to turn to get out. It was a little scary when you live alone.

Dave - You must have been watching me replace that new temp gauge, LOL! I have to admit, my left side is still sore from that seat riser......
Ron - Maybe you could've used the cell phone to dial 911! I wish I had a dollar for every one of those 'stuck person' calls that I responded to over the years.....
Mounted and put on tire. Closer every day but with Fall/Winter on the way, looks like another Summer gone by. 7 1/2 years and counting. Rocket Wheels Igniter series, 5x4 3/4, 3.5 BS, 235/75-15. Firestone Destination LE2. Painted drum to give some color contrast to wheel.
Removed the grille, bumper, radiator, front pieces off the engine. Ran out of shade, so additional teardown will happen at a later time. Need a pop-up shade thingy.

I tore apart everything I did last week for my timing gear install and did it again!!! That sure was fun! 52Carl got me thinking too hard about whether my gears were really getting oil or not . I couldn't live with not knowing so undid everything I did and did it again. Turns out they probably were getting as much as possible--the pasageway behind the front cover and the tube were both open. Now they're clean and open.
This time I took pictures so maybe I'll do a tech post sometime...
I took my 53 one ton out for the first time! Only drove a couple of miles, and never got off my driveway. Truck ran great, no problems, but it sure rides rough! On my road, which is full of rocks, holes, and ruts, I drove at a top speed of 20 MPH on the way out and got thrown all over the cab. On the way back I stayed around10 MPH, and it rode much smoother.

I am currently digging back in to a 1953 3800 (one ton) with a nine foot bed. I've owned it since 1979, and drove it until 1982 (or so). My wife got me involved in restoring it back in 2002, got the body removed and the frame redone, then things came up. Now I am retired and starting again. If anyone is interested I have photos on Imagur ( https://timwhiteblues.imgur.com/ ). I live way back in the woods in the Ozarks on 40 acres at the end of a 2 1/2 mile private road.
Removed the Fresh Air Heater Box to restore it. Going to clean up, and repaint the box. Replace the leaking heater core, and replace the blower motor while I have it all apart..
Replaced my windshield on the 54 3100. I watched the videos but was nervous about all the things that could go wrong. It went very well. I had it installed in about an hour.
HandyAndy said "I finished recovering my seat. The kit was purchased from JC. It's not perfect, but I'm happy!"
Looks very good. I did the same with the JC covers. Get complements but I see all kind of imperfections. The good news is it's been a three years now and the covers are wearing great and actually fit better now than when first installed.
I had intended to use hog rings on the upholstery fabric; however, much to my surprise the fabric was cut for barrel-type clips. Hopefully, mine will wear as well as yours!
Took diagnostic photos of the engine in the ‘62 C-10. Looking for a miss on the passenger cylinder bank.ðŸ›Â

Gave the wing glasses a dose of WD40. The driver side window had been getting progressively harder to open/adjust. To the point I was worrying I might break one of the pivot pins. A few squirts of WD40 whilst exercising the wings and they work Much better.
‘62 C-10 w/350, been fretting over a miss for several weeks. Used some of HRL’s tricks and found 2 dead spark plugs. Replaced this morning and all is good for now.ðŸ›Â

Checked all the tires and all were low which was a surprise to me because I just check them 3 weeks ago but the local temp dropped 26 degrees. Also cleaned all the tires.

Charged the battery, removed the steering wheel and clear-coated it (no more sticky black gunk on my hands when it's humid out), reinstalled the speedometer that I took apart and cleaned. The shaft was nearly frozen solid from the old oil/grease, which broke the speedo cable. Works like new now!
I was finally able to sound proof the cab roof and install my headliner. It took a while to get all the parts, but I have everything and it all fit reasonably good too! I let the two-piece headliner 'relax' for a couple weeks before I installed it. Another set of hands would have been nice; however, I gotter done......
Good job Andy! My Lucky Buckeye tells me you will have it at the Homecoming next April! Not the headliner, But the whole truck!
