anyone know how to remove this knob off the shaft that that goes into the light switch?Need to cut it to fit closer to the dash it’s about an inch to long. Thanks
First, make sure you have the shaft installed completely in the switch. It shouldn't stick out too far. The switch end of the shaft is made to catch inside the switch. You will have to remove the knob, cut the shaft , and reinstall with set screw. Put the shaft in a vise and see if you can tap the knob off since you have already removed the set screw. Maybe it was glued on too. Or get a replacement knob after you cut it to desired length. Good luck.

The shaft is probably dinged up from the set screw as well. If the knob wiggles any, it will come off eventually if you work it enough. Maybe put it in a vise WITH some jaw caps and tap the knob with a small hammer.

There is a little button on the other side of the switch, you pull the handle out and press the button and pull the handle out.
i got the shaft out of the switch .now I need to get the knob off the shaft with out damaging it so I can shorten it so it won’t stick out so far off the dash.
What does the switch end of the shaft look like? Can you just cut that end and reshape it to match?

Or use the original. It fits very nicely! I did after purchasing an aftermarket. The original was way better looking and fitting, in my opinion.

You can't cut the end that goes into the switch. There is a spring button that you have to push to remove it. You can only cut the stem at the knob end.
