a while back, my son and i were on a weekend cruise to visit my brother about 60 miles away in 100^ weather. we get to his house, pick him up for lunch and noticed that second gear was hard to get into. ok, we get to restaraunt and park the truck because now all gears are hard to engage. we eat hoping it needs to cool off, we get in and the truck shifts fine when not running but as soon as we start it the truck jumps like the clutch isnt engaged. we towed it home
1. i checked clutch, clutch shop said its fairly new
2. tranny was taken to shop, mechanic said it needed 3rd gear work plus synchro. that was done
3. all is back together, but the same problem exists. cant change gears while running, clutch adjustment done too. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1,518 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1,518 | I wonder if you have a steel pilot bushing and the clutch gear (input shaft) is seized to the bushing making the crank and transmission turn as one.

It should be able to start the engine". I would suspect the clutch hanging up as well like sstock said.
