I have been using my shop vacuum to pull the dust out of my media blasting cabinet. This always created the issue of the pre filter in the vacuum being clogged by dust. I ordered a cyclone attachment to add to the vacuum, on Amazon. Works great to separate the dust before it enters the vacuum. I have no tie to this company, just wanted to share a good product. A little pricey for what it is but well worth the time savings of having to blow out the filter.

I bought a top for a 5 gallon bucket from HD for forty bucks. Works great for separating the glass blasting media but the fine dust does seem to get thru after awhile. I bought it mainly for saving the blast media so I could reuse it. Before, the vacuum filter was plugged solid after an hour. Now I can go several days before I need to clean the filter. I do have two filters, so I hose one out and have another to use while the other is drying.

Excellent post Phak1.

That is way less expensive that buying a system from a blast-cabinet company.

A couple of great posts!
My solution has always been to tie a t-shirt over the filter in my shop vac. Then it's as easy as shaking the thing out when it gets clogged.
Easy enough to throw the t-shirt in the wash after shaking it out, if it's getting really dirty. smile
In the end, I save a ton of money on shop vac filters. smile
