I bought this pan a few years back for a 216 project, took it out of box for a quick look and put it back on the shelf. Now after awhile I finally take a good look at this pan and wonder what I bought? NO drain fitment and the ends of the pan that would mount to the front and rear caps have no reinforcement tabs.
Do I have a nice Expen$ive box or a pan that really fit something.
Check "chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com" The P/ N on box crosses to an oil pan for all 53 engines except power glide. Don't know why no drain plug hole or reinforced ends.

Yep, Or maybe it survived because it was defective. The mechanic pulled it out of the box, saw the lack of drain plug and reinforcement, put it back in the box and threw it in the corner.

Except for the missing drain, that pan would work will on someone's 1953-54 full pressure 235, as they had the same bolt pattern and did not use dipper troughs.
