Howdy. I introduced myself and now for the q's. Lol
I purchased a 1956 lcf 5700
Trying to get it running. Turns out i think it was totally repowered in 2003.
Engine was not that hard to figure out, its a 1977 400sbc.
Trans was a pain but after hours on google I think it is an NP 540?.
Pics to follow.
So the problem I'm having is it did not have a battery.
Batt from my motorhome chassis way to big.
What battery are you guys using in the tri 5 lcf's?
Thanks, Mike

Any car battery that will fit on the tray should work, nothing special. I have a Duracell HP24F in my '56 3100 with a 350 sbc, should work fine for you.

Your battery tray/mounting looks identical to Mike B’s setup above. Use his #’s as a reference or grab your tape measure and head to the parts store. 🛠

Thanks! Exactly the info I needed. I looked online at my local Costco and they have a 24 group with the exact dimensions needed in tray.
Hope to get it running on its own today.
Mike B, Where do i find more pictures of that clean truck of yours?

Welcome to the club. As Mike said any car battery will work as long as it fits the battery tray. I have had good luck with Optima batteries. Especially if the truck sets a lot. I have one in my 59 Firetruck for over ten years. Just keep a battery tender on it. Also it is a good idea to get a battery hold down assembly. Once when I was a kid I hit a ditch in my Dad's 57 pickup and the battery jumped out a tore the battery cables loose. He was not happy!

I tried to reply this Am but I must have not submited it, hope I don't end up with 2! computerdeath
Thanks for the answers. I looked up that battery on Costco and they have one just like it. I hoped to get it running today but, carb must still have dirt in it, quadrajet, fires off of accelerator pump but then dies so back in the cleaner and blown out to the max!
Gonna get a group 24 battery and try again tomorrow.
Is it best to start a lot of little posts for each topic or have one long running post?
Or is there a Build page?
Mike B, clean truck! More pics?
Thanks, Mike

Always start a new topic in the appropriate forum. If you want to do a build blog, which is not really for questions, there is the Journal Forum.🛠

OK
So to finalize this I bought an interstate group 24 battery.
Trickle charged it to full and installed it.
It works perfectly! Kinda close to hood, so i need to make a hold down sooner than later.
Side note, 400sbc w/quadrajet. Truck not started in 5 years.
I was thinking I lost the touch and tore down carb for a third time!
The tiny holes for the idle circuit were not accepting air.
I sprayed cleaner and probed a super small wire through all the idle circuit. Put carb back on and it fired up and purred like a kitten.
I let it run an hour and oil pressure, temp and charging were good!
Put it in gear and rocked it until the brakes let loose and was off.
But no brakes big_eek Time for a new thread and some research into that.
But for now I am very happy. nanner chug
Thanks!

Congratulations! It's always exciting when you fire something up for the first time. Been through that with several of my tractors and two of my non-Bolt trucks! It's just as thrilling each time it happens!
