Thought I would start a thread just for the lodging.

I've never been in the casino but will probably get at least one meal there and spend a few bucks on the slots, if I have time.

The Super 8 hotel is across the street and about 2/3 the price, with a continental breakfast.
Both are easy walking distance from the show site this year.
If you have AAA, AARP or a senior citizen, you can get about 10% more off.

So we need some input from Mongo on an after show get together.
Can we sit around the Stovebolt awning and have a few cold ones?
Can we get a meeting room in the hotel and use it for free?
Will the same BBQ folks be at the show? Well worth the money for their meal.
That will be my Saturday evening meal.
Myself, I like the Boy Scout hotdog stand for lunch.

So give us your input on lodging and meals.

I'm not planning on splurging a bit and staying at the Super 8

Historically we've not used the Super 8 because in years previous (Early on) we had more than a couple participants complain about the "Cleanliness" there. Since then I have talked to people who have stayed there that said it was fine. So as you guys know your mileage will vary. As far as hanging at Stovebolt central that should be No problem at all. Regarding Cold frosty beverages at the show, the official policy is the same as at the park, Your adults act accordingly and wrap that rascal. The rowdiness level of the Stovebolt is always a delightful, mellow, chilled out. So I have no concerns.

I think Vicki and I will be staying at the Super 8.
I did check Super 8 price and with a AAA card, it's 72 bucks a night. 76 bucks without it. Plus about 8 bucks tax.
The other discount groups did not seem to make a difference
The money we save, can go for the Reunion or gambling, which ever comes first.
So 76 bucks with breakfast, compared to 139 bucks and buy your own breakfast.
You decide, I'm a cheap son of a gun!

Both of our trips up there we found the parking lot at the Super 8 with quite a few trucks and associated trailers parked there. So, some participants are staying there.

I tried to book at super 8 10 minutes ago and could only get Thurs and Friday. But until I finalized it did I see that they had not done Saturday. So I called direct and shall we say the person that answered was difficult to understand. So I just hung after they put me on hold. I will try again after daylight. I don't know what the difference is but I just went back to the same site and was able to book the dates and room I needed. It kept saying hurry only one room left. I did change from 2 beds to one so maybe that was it. I always book 2 beds in case someone might need it. Most hotels have 2-bed rooms only. I almost took it as an omen not to go but since I don't believe in omens and I wanted to stop at Country Classic any way so I retried. I almost booked at our old site

Sure wish we lived closer, had the time built up to take off, and the extra cash to make the trip.

Me, too. Why didn't you guys schedule this for spring when I took my 12,500 mile road trip with KC as one of the destinations? I would have loved to attend, even though my truck is still in pieces.
I did get to hook up with Justhorsenround on the way thru his territory in mid May.

What is "Country Classic"?

Tom, Country Classic Cars is a classic car dealer out of Staunton, Illinois. Lots of complaints about the quality of their vehicles.

A little background. I moved to my current location in Dec. 1999. Wasn't doing so well here, and in Feb. 2002 I got a Queensland Heeler puppy. At about 5 months old she changed, she stopped looking like a Queensland and more like a Dingo. A year later her parents had another litter and I ended up with her sister, who also looked like a Dingo. So I got a new license plate for my Jeep DBLDNGO. Those that knew my dogs were my dingo dogs got it, but others didn't make the connection. Those girls are gone now, lost Sneakers in May 2013 to diabetic coma, and Sybil to natural causes in October 2018. She almost made it to 17.

We will have to save up both time off and money for a trek across the western US. If we go that far east, we'll have to go south too, because her family is in Texas. So it'd be a 5-7k mile trip easily. We put on 4,200 miles over Christmas 2018.

Hitting the area early Friday afternoon, check in, unload, set up Stovebolt HQ and then head to the Aldersons BBQ.
Whoever gets there Friday afternoon will be drafted to help set up!

These people.. I have been there a couple of times on the way to KC. They have a huge inventory but lost 300 a few years back to a fire. I am sure they get a lot of tire kickers but I was looking to buy a car but I interrupted the good ol boys lunch. They were less than welcoming. I did find the car I was looking for. Jerry did an inspection there a few years back and refused to drive the car because it was unsafe. You know that anytime you buy a car even a new one there are things you don't like or overlooked at the inspection. It is located 15 miles north of St. Louis 270 , I have been wanted to stop but if you search it says 40 miles north on 55 but that is from St. Louis not 270 so I never stopped. They had a 1937 Plymouth 4 dr and it got sold last week.This is the car I was wanting to see.
