You don't have to post again if you are allowed to edit your first post. So after switching to new part numbers, which one will replace yours? Which one is not available? Both new numbers are available. 51-8091- $150 $60 core (9.77 dia).................51-8021- $258 no core charge (10.056 dia). If these diameters are correct, they are only .14 difference on the radius. I would think it's the plumbing and mounting you would be concerned with.

Hy Noonan, the 51-8091 is the correct type, a Hydrovac. 51-8021 is a newer type. There is an outfit in Ontario that rebuilds them, their name escapes me at the moment. When looking online there will be different measurements, they are the length of the main body, they vary by the numbers of wheel cylinders in your braking system. You will want one with the same body measurement as yours, hope that helps.
After taking measurement of my hydrovac and comparing the measurements of the 2 units above; the CARDONE 51-8028 is the unit that will replace the hydrovac in my 55 Chevy 2 ton.
As mentioned above by 2ManyTrucks. Model 3740000 hydrovac brake booster is also a number used to identify remans etc.. for this same unit.
I am very lucky to have found a re manufactured unit at thewrenchmonkey.ca. The price is higher than rockauto pricing although they have it in stock and ready to ship.
hi Noonan, please let me know how that remanufactured unit turns out, i would like to know if it is a remanufactured original or a new casting and parts from Taiwan. i have several trucks and i might be lazy enough to get one of those either way the rebuilding experience goes. my trucks are a bit south of yours, closer to saskatoon than you -s
I will definitely let you know how the re man. looks when it arrives. It will be a cardone. I should know the weekend of friday sept. the 13th.
The reman that was in the truck looked just fine from the small bit of disassembly that I carried out. I just hate [censored] around so I ordered another re man.
Ive attached some photos of the unit that came with the truck that I will be replacing with a (hopefully fresh) re man.
Bad news on the Cardone Re man unit from TheWrenchMonkey.ca
They emailed me today saying that it was an inventory issue and they don't actually have one on hand. They have contacted Cardone and they have no ETA as to when a Reman will be available.
So I am back to paying out the ying yang to get a rebuild kit out of the USA or I am back to paying out the ying yang to send this thing out for rebuild most likely to the USA !
I live in the wrong country to be an automotive enthusiast
well some places in the US may ship rebuild kits to you direct to SK if you call them, also have you talked to NAPA in person about it yet, because they maybe able to help out more than their online webpage can do. also i would call around to brake shops in the major cities too, they maybe able to help you out over the phone. i haven't rebuilt my booster yet, it's not original to my truck so it's a future project, so far it stops well without a booster, but they are only 1 tons
there is a 2 ton and a 2.5 ton on my farm that both have their original boosters, i doubt they are operational. i seem to recall the last time we used one for a water tank, the brakes consisted of a piece of wood with 8 ft of bailer twine so you could pull it out from the wheel and reel it into the cab from the driver seat -s
I realize there are options out of the united states but I am seriously tired of getting raked over the coals on prices and shipping and brokerage and duties !
So I have put in an inquiry with regards to the new HydroVac units from fleet products and they will let me know if the piston seal used is a leather material or an updated material.
