I'm cleaning up my old stainless dividers on my 50 burn. There is a felt strip that is half rotten and I'm having a huge problem with removing them. It almost looks like rusted steel???? Anyone have any experience with cleaning these up?

Update..... I was able to make progress using a wire wheel on a bench grinder. The tucked in parts are still in there. It is definitely rusted steel.

The rusty metal is part of the whiskers or felt strip. I used a die grinder and carefully scored it the length of the trim. eventually they broke in two and i was able to pry them out of the stainless steel track. Take your time opening up the track where they're crimped, the stainless track can crack if not careful.
I'll look and see if I took pictures of the process.
I bought my new felt whiskers from www.classicpartsofamerica.com

Please use a Private Message or a Parts Wanted post for solicitation of parts.

Thank you

I think I just used a radiator hose or angle awl tool and split it like a zipper. Plus, I spread the sides a little.

The spreading of the sides helped a lot. Its finished. Tedious work though.
