I just got a rear out of a 76 Nova for my '49. Will it hurt to sand blast it? It look pretty well sealed up dosent look like sand will get in side. Thanks grin

I done a few that way and had no problems. You will want to stay away from the seal at the pinion and axles. Remove the brake drums so you can clean better when you are done. Also, seal the vent tube real good. When you are done blasting, pull the pan and drain the oil real good, and pull the axles out. Hit the car wash and clean inside and out real good. The hot soapy water really does a good job. Take some WD-40 along to coat the gears after washing. Replace the axle seals and add fresh gear oil ( 80-140W ). With fresh paint, you now have one project done and many more to go!!
