There may be a historical post on this, and I am happy to search but want to throw this question out because I am sure many have ran across this and know what to do. So, at some point, a PO swapped the original 216 in my 49 Chevy 3100 panel, to one from a 1952 passenger car, according to the engine number.
I bought a 235 out of a good running 54 Chevy car and once I go through it, will be installing it into the panel. I know that I will have to do some modification on the throttle linkage but just wanted to see if someone can tell me exactly what needs done.
So, it you look at the first photo, it shows the bell crank / carb linkage on the 52, 216 that I pulled out of the panel. This set up looks like a 216 from a pickup, and therefore, the throttle linkage was not modified.
The other photo is the bell crank / carb linkage for the 54, 235 and it's different and the bell crank is further back, and it looks like the throttle linkage would hook up in the lower hole, so I am assuming that I will need to do some bending and possibly shortening of the throttle linkage?
