My god did I mess up my first message. Let me start over. I have a 1950 chevy 3100. I am putting the bed on for mark up purpose. I am trying to make sure my bed height is correct by trying to see what the correct distance is from the top of the front bed panel to the belt line under the back window.

Are you installing a standard wood bed? The wooden blocks between the frame and the underside of the bed sills dictate the height of the bed.

Simplest thing to do is to order the bed block kit which comes with correct wooden blocks and rubber pads which will guarantee that the bed ends up at the correct height.
