My current problem is that I'm looking to put disc brakes on the stock front of my '49.
Most of the kits say something like' "may not work with original wheels". SO I call Chevy Duty to ask which they will work with as I have stock 16" wheels and would like to keep them. The tech desk could not tell me if they would work and implied they probably won't & that I should go to a 5 lug as it is cheaper and there are more wheel/tire combinations. (which is true) But if I can use the original wheels with a kit that would be better.
Has anyone put on a disc brake kit and been able to use the 16 - 6 lut wheels? Is all it needs to work is a wheel spacer? I sure would like to stop and also keep the original wheel look and not have to change out the back wheels as well.
ALso what radial can be used on the 16's?

The 16" wheels fit but I had to grind just a bit off in a couple of places to get clearance. Nothing that would hurt the integrity of the wheel. I tried the spoked 16" and the 16.5" rims with the same result. | | |
