Installing a offy 2x1 with Fentons. I did a search regarding grinding to get the offy to fit up properly. I find the Offy hits the rear fenton at the third exhaust port. The front is fine. How much can I safely take off the intake? Or do you need to grind the Fenton? Thanks.

I have just completed this task myself. In order to get the two to fit, you need to grind on the Offy. You will find that you will need to gring both the front and rear to gain enough clearance.

I used a simple grinding wheel on my drill. This is a slow process so I was sure not to take off too much material too quickly.

The best way to desciribe how much material needs to be removed, on the under side of the intake there are two indented areas. You need to grind down to the lowest point of these indentations.

If you would like pictures please email me.

52pu,
Just fired up my new 261 with the Offy intake. I spent the better part of 4 hours grinding, filing and fitting the manifold to fit the headers. You'll have to grind front and rear. I have the Langdon water heat plate and had to grind a ton on it to get a fit. The real thing is to make sure the intake ports fit fluch against the head on the bottom side. I used a shop light to make sure I had "daylight" everywhere.
