I am doing some rear axle work , I found a 4:10 third member and plan on swapping out the 4:56, I’m also planning on doing the brakes and axle seals at the same time. I just need the torque for preloading the axle bearings when reinstalling the drums. Thanks

That is in the shop manual. The procedure is very specific.

Thanks for the reply I actually did think of that but since I don’t have a shop manual l was thinking someone with a manual might relay the info. I did buy a 62 shop manual but it was for the American built GMC truck and did not cover the axle I have in my truck.

Here is the procedure for the 1954 truck. I think yours will be the same.
