My driver side vent window is missing the latch. It was missing it when I bought the truck. I don't want to replace the whole thing. ($268) I just want to add a handle back to the window. I purchased a replacement handle only to learn it does not come with the pin the goes through the glass the handle mounts to. Has anyone found a supplier that sells the entire latch assembly or have you made your own pin. I am thinking about pulling the one from the passenger side and tried to fabricate a replacement. I have not had much luck finding a donor truck that I could pull the vent window from.
Thanks for the feedback. I don't need the roll pin. I need the post that sticks out from the window that the latch mounts on to. The one on Amazon is similar to what I need but it is for a newer truck and the design is different than the AD vent window latch. If I don't find a donor soon I will probably have to bite the bullet and buy a new vent window with frame. I need new rubber around the window anyway.
I have exactly the same problem! The only solution that makes any sense to me is replacement of the entire assembly. This in fact is next on my to-do list and is going to occur this spring once it warms up. If you are interested I will let you know how it goes. The door will get repainted, new weather stripping, and new door panels at the same time, and hopefully the loose window crank and door handle will get secured properly.
I bought a replacement door for $100 Canadian dollars just for the vent assembly. But a full replacement assembly should be available from suppliers. As far as I can tell, several screws get removed and then the assembly lifts up and out of the door with a rotation.
If there is a better and cheaper solution I am interested.
If there are any old auto glass shops in your area you might check with them. The shop I worked at until '86 had a box of "saddles" as we called them, the piece that the pin is swedged into. A couple times a year we would pick up a bunch of vent assemblies from a local fleet and replace that part (its rivetted in) because their drivers had run the CB coax thru the vent and sprung or broken the pivot. If you have the old pivot pin, you could braze or wire weld it back in, just be sure you have it in the right position. If I remember right there is a flat spot on it that acts as a stop for the handle. You'll need to pull the glass to do this and do it on the glass channel side of the saddle. John
I bought new wing vent window assemblies from Jim Carter for my 53 one ton. They worked perfectly, everything but the inner handle and the special washers, nut and and springs. $89 each side, part number WI 542L or R (depending on which side). Including glass.

I am currently digging back in to a 1953 3800 (one ton) with a nine foot bed. I've owned it since 1979, and drove it until 1982 (or so). My wife got me involved in restoring it back in 2002, got the body removed and the frame redone, then things came up. Now I am retired and starting again. If anyone is interested I have photos on Imagur ( https://timwhiteblues.imgur.com/ ). I live way back in the woods in the Ozarks on 40 acres at the end of a 2 1/2 mile private road.
I have a complete vent window assy out of my '53, believe it's the passenger side. Has the triangular piece with post going through the glass. Let me know if you need any or all of it.

JiMerit, thanks for the offer. Another stove bolter has the same thing for the driver side and offered it to me. If I can't make it work my next best option is to buy the window assembly Tim suggested.
I have mentioned this before but I am a tight wade when it comes to this kind of stuff. I will pursue the cheapest option first. Used parts or fabricated. If that is not an option I will spend the money on the new parts, I just like to exhaust all possibilities first. It is always in the back of my mind that the exact part I need is sitting under some ones workbench or on their barn floor collecting dust.
So far the great group of stovebolters on this site have proved my theory correct. I have been able to locate a couple 6 lug 16 inch wheels (free for the shipping cost), a replacement steering wheel (free for the shipping cost) and now the vent window post I need (free for the shipping cost).
