Picked up this old girl in the southern nm desert. Was sitting in same spot since 1980. Ran when parked. I'm gonna give that 248 a shot once i put fresh oil and stuff.

The gen says 12v on it. Does this mean this truck was converted? Its a 1955. Or was 12v already a thing in 1955 from factory?

Excuse my ignorance. Is that a Blue Chip GMC truck or a Task Force Chevrolet truck?

Late 1955:
- GMC Blue Chip trucks had standard 6v positive ground, but I think that 12v negative ground was an option
- Chevrolet Task Force trucks were standard 12v negative ground

Don't for get to check for stuck valves before you turn it over-oil the valve stems, tap the valve end of the rockers with a rubber hammer or 2 x 4 to make all the valves move, if stuck, bent pushrods might occur.

Not a bad idea to put a little ATF in the cylinders also and let it set a while before turning it over. Helps free up the rings.

Nice, hey you know some guys pay big bucks for a patina paint job like that.
Oh, and I love the bolt hanging out of the side of the carb- shade tree mechanics at its best.
