Hey guys here's a quick one for ya. I finally got my 8.8 rear end yesterday. I'd like it to be as centered as possible so I'm gonna drill holes in the leaf spring perches to kick the axel an inch and a half back. Now this may be a dumb question but, the perches dont bolt onto the center bolt right? I was under the understanding that they just sit ontop of the center bolt and nut. So the hole I'm going to drill will be about a 1/2" to fit over tht nut?
I'm just making sure my thought process is correct before I start drilling holes.
The axle just locates on the center bolts, not mechanically connected. The hole size should be just bigger then the head of the center bolt in the springs. The nut on the center bolt should not be used to locate the axle.
Here's some pictures for reference. So those are the holes that came pre drilled in the perch. They only have a 3/4 offset. In your opinion are these holes the appropriate size?
