For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2016 Posts: 15 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2016 Posts: 15 | I know this has been discussed a bunch but here it goes. I have a 31 truck that is a LT which is early 31. I have done a 235 swap with a SM 420 and tried to keep the truck looking fairly close to the way it came. It is basically like the one on the picture of Spring is Coming to the left. Anyway I have the original Rad. in place and my question is. Will it actually keep the 235 cooled properly in my Texas heat or should I swap it out with a new one? And secondly, if I need to swap. Does anyone know of any that will go into the original Chevy shell? I see plenty of them on Ebay for Fords with Chevy engines but none for Chevy with the Radiator cap in the middle on top like my truck has. Oh and with the original what pressure cap would be used and where would you get it? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | | | | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 5,242 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 5,242 | I would guess it is a zero or 2 psi system, even my '37 was zero pressure. If it is clean and in good shape, it will cool just fine. The newer motor should not make anymore heat then the old one did. There are products like Water Wetter that help cooling systems work better in case you need it. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | | | |
