Here is how one sets if no rear spring mods are made. Some like a severe "rake" but I,m not one of them.

A Mustang II ride height can be set anywhere. Not necessarily in a raked or low position.

Exactly, depending on how low or high one mounts the MII crossmember in the frame.

Does that use drop spindles or is it a “stock” height spindle?

The picture is an out of the box MII cross member welded to a factory height frame---no dropped spindles. Was intended as a primer and not a history of clock making. Of course the cross member can be dropped (picture) but how many also take into consideration that the change in roll center most likely will require change in spring, shock, and sway bar rates. Great variable here as a sectioned roadster will require little while a top heavy panel may take quite a change. Was not directed at pro builders but what a regular guy with a one car garage and a buzz box welder should expect as an end result.

Lowering a cross member: (frame upside down in pics)

My 39 looked like that as well with a Hiedts kit. When I bought my kit, I asked for "stock height" spindles, but they sent me 2 inch drop spindles. I removed a few rear leaf's and got it to a manageable rake. After a few years, I realized that I had drop spindles. I installed a set of "stock height", and it brought the front up a bit.

Another quality post.
