I would like to have the governor in use but not the kickdown switch. Could I use a toggle switch to turn it off and on and the cable to lock the overdrive in or out? I have a relay in the fuse box I'm installing and wondering if i can run it through that instead of separate one. I'm ordering my harness from Jim Carter, they say wiring instructions are included, but I'm trying to plan ahead.

Being able to engage the solenoid directly gives you the added benefit of "hill holding". When you're at a stop light that's on a upgrade and someone is right behind you, engage your solenoid (via switch), let your truck roll back slowly until it engages, then turn the solenoid off. Your truck will stay right where it is, without the brake. When you start moving forward, the overdrive immediately disengages.

Once the OD is engaged, it won't disengage above 30 MPH unless the kickdown switch is used. I'm not sure if turning off a manual switch would allow the solenoid lock pawl to retract, unless the clutch pedal is also depressed to unload the drivetrain. The kickdown does all that automatically, in a fraction of a second. Jerry

I did use the Bosch type relay.
