It was sitting in the woods near Dothan, Alabama for about 30 years, and it still has the original 292 and SM420 transmission. I had the 292 running within a month. I've been gradually getting the parts needed to fix "Bilko" up.

It was built in Baltimore, and has a government contract number on the VIN plate. It only has 64,704 miles on it. Here is a short video made the day after it first ran. At the time, I thought it was sitting for about 20 years, but I later determined that it was more like 30. There were a few coins found inside that dated before 1983, and there was a Coca-Cola bottle cap from the early to mid 1980's. The oil filter also appeared to be from the same time period. The bumper sticker on the front bumper is from WOOF, a radio station in Dothan, Alabama. https://www.facebook.com/doug.ducor/videos/1736934779697407/ | | | | | Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1,518 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1,518 | That 292 purrs like a kitten, 292/sm420 is a really stout combination 1953 Chevrolet 3100261 cu inch, sm420, 3.55 rear, torque tube still, omaha orange, still 6 volt, RPO green glass, side carrier spare, all done In the DITY GalleryVideo of the 261 running1964 GMC 1000305 Big Block V6, sm420, the next cab off restoration
