I have TWO spare pedal assemblies and on BOTH the bushings are VERY loose test-fitted on each of those shafts.
Will the bushings reduce in size when press fitted into the pedal arms thereby making the fit on the shafts closer? I just can't see going to all that bother to end up with little to no improvement.
I've been thinking of sending them off to a brake master cylinder resleever to have it done. I do hope a few suggestions come forward.
Thanks!

Thin bushings shrink almost as much in the bore as the press fit interference is in the part. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,309 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,309 | What kind condition is the shaft in? Worn?

I don't have a micrometer but I do have a vernier caliper. I will take three readings each, average and compare. I will also do that with the third shaft, that which is on the truck at this moment. Grigg has noted in the past that the shaft is hardened steel, the bushings, softer brass and by design, replaceable.
The present Clutch & Brake pedal assembly has the wear of my personally driven 112,000 miles in addition to the 'who knows how many' miles of the previous owners. Next get-together, probably at Homecoming I will note the differences between trucks. Right now they (the two bushings) are very loose and wobbly, so much so that my brake pedal can get hung up on the toe board.

Jim Carter was out of them last month when I tried ordering. These fit fine, and actually had to hone just a bit on the clutch pedal after installing the bushing, but was good on the brake pedal. Maybe a different supplier? I know when I called Carter the told me it would be at least 4 weeks before they would have them in stock.

All I ask in return is for you to represent me should I run into major controversy, real or imagined by the Council. It is rumored that you have pull in these matters. Carl
