Here's a link to the truck manual which just says "fill housing with transmission fluid" for the 1/2 ton trucks, but says 1 pint for 3/4 ton trucks. Truck Service Manual page 4-52

If I read the instructions correctly on page 4-53,it would need one pint. ....
In transmission section 7-4,paragraph 6, it states to fill the universal joint thru the pipe plug opening ...but which plug opening, the one on the tail shaft which is called the (bearing support retainer plug) or does it mean the main tranny fill plug in the mid - section of the tranny case ??? It does state that the main tranny takes 1 1/2 pints
I need to get this right...᠁᠁.

The instructions above say to fill to the plug hole. Other instructions might say: when cold/cool, fill a little below the plug hole (the oil expands when warm). As posted above, the enclosed drive-shaft transmission u-joint is filled from the transmission. | | | | Joined: Jan 2016 Posts: 246 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2016 Posts: 246 | THANKS FOR CLEARING THAT UP FOR ME...J
