Does anyone know if a BW 4 speed can be converted to a 5 speed version without too many hassles?

In which way are you referring to?
Using the BW case from a 4 speed,, the answer is no, not at this time.
You can swap in other 5 speed units with some mods.

I have one of the S-10 four speeds that I would convert to a five speed,if it were possible. I guess I will just use the four speed till I can find a five speed at a decent price.
