I bought a 52 chevy 3600 some time back and have been in the process of making a few changes to get it road worthy. During my research i have found this site from being on the Hamb. which has lead me to a lot of information. So far I have gotten all the front end parts from Sids Axles and brakes from cpp. The four inch drop I put in went great as well as the disk brake setup. I'm waiting on the 4 disk booster from speedway still! Picked up a s10 4x4 rear and presently working on that now. Looking for more info about lowering the rear. The truck is in pretty good condition as it sits body wise and the old 6 is tired and about on it's way out .Very interesting reads on here! Glad sites like this are around! .

Welcome djones! The truck looks great. Is that a spare tire mounted on the passenger side of the bed? I have always seen it on the driver's side.......or is this normal on a 3600...??
The factory bed-side spare-tire mount was first offered in 1953 (RPO 341 on 3104, 3604, & 3804). It was mounted on the driver’s side, and there was an indent in the fender (3104 only for indent?).
My guess is that it could be easily mounted on either side of a 3604 or 3804?
Maybe someone who has done this will comment/confirm and/or describe how they did this?
Welcome from another Illinoisan. Good to have you. Very nice truck. Love that paint! I have had two AD 3/4-ton pickups with curbside spare tire mounts. Both appeared to be home/shop made. Not as easy to lower the rear of a 3600 as a 3100, since you can't add lowering blocks. Keep us informed how that comes out. Good luck with your truck!

Yes it was, home made from somebody in the past. I'm not planning on putting it back on. Not really sure where the spare will go just yet but i do have towing!
